John McCarthy decided to start his business when his employer asked him to put a used part on a system and charge the customer as if that part was new. He quit the job on the spot. “When I got home, I realized what I had done...quit my job that supported my wife, daughter, and newborn son,” John said. “My mother-in-law looked at me and said, ‘You're a smart man, why don't you start your own business?’”
John started McCarthy Heating & Air Conditioning as a one-man, one-truck operation.
He has proudly served the Omaha, Nebraska area since 1970, where he quickly built valuable relationships with the residents in his community. With its humble beginnings, the company relied on on-time service and getting the job done right the first time to build their reputation.
In 2003, John became one of the first operating franchises under One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning and served as a model operation and training center for many future One Hour franchises.
Over the course of his career, John has been awarded numerous recognitions, including:
- Better Business Bureau's Integrity Award for Service Excellence
- Best Contractor to Work For in the Upper Midwest Region
- One Hour's Spirit Award
We are proud to have John as one of the founding members of the One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning family and know his accomplishments are far from over.
