Since going into business in 1979, the One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning location in Hampton Roads, VA has been dedicated to giving back. After giving at a more national level, the team wanted to explore how they could make their community efforts more localized to support their community, leading to the creation of One Hour Cares in 2012.
A passion project for the entire team, the program provides a structure for the office to give back to local charities that truly may an impact on the Hampton Roads community. Owner Todd Kletz created the program. Each quarter, the office takes nominations online of deserving local charities. They then choose three finalists from that quarter’s group and shares them on Facebook, prompting the community to cast their votes through “likes.” The winner selected receives a donation that quarter.
Since One Hour Cares launched, the office has donated more than $130,000 to locally based groups and has helped them gain more exposure through local media outlets as well as social media.
For the team in Hampton Roads, this program is not just about donating money.
“It is about being part of the Hampton Roads community. Giving these voiceless charities a voice and much needed exposure,” said Lauren Wilson, the office’s marketing Coordinator. “It is truly partnering with those volunteering their time and energy to make our community that much better.”
