Some homeowners hear the term “ductless air conditioning,” and they think it means the window-units that so many of us have used to cool single rooms or small apartments throughout the years. This is actually not at all what we mean when we talk about ductless air conditioning, though. Ductless air conditioners, or ductless mini splits, are still centralized cooling systems. They are just centralized cooling systems that eschew the use of air ducts and operate in a very unique way.

With this unique manner of operation comes some very unique benefits. You will only have access to these benefits, though, if your ductless air conditioning system is the right fit for your home, and if that system is installed and serviced properly by trained professionals. We’ll guarantee that this is the case. With our technicians on your side, you’ll be able to enjoy the very best that your ductless mini split in Miami, FL has to offer.

How It Works

Like a traditional split central air conditioner, a ductless mini split system features an outdoor condenser unit that releases heat absorbed from the air in the house via the refrigerant cycle into the air outside. The major difference, though, is that there is no single central indoor unit. Instead of a single evaporator unit, multiple blower heads are installed throughout the house. These act as independent air handlers.

The units are connected to the outdoor condenser via a simple conduit containing power, refrigerant, and any necessary drainage lines. Each blower will remove heat from the air in the area in which it is installed, recirculating cooled air back into the living space. All units are controlled independently of one another.

In addition to cooling your home with your ductless mini split, you can also use it to heat the living space on those rare chilly nights that we encounter. Designated cooling-only models are available, but most homeowners see the value in having a very efficient heat pump model at their disposal. With our (extremely) mild winter season, it only makes sense to exploit this technology.

Benefits of Going Ductless

There are a few ways in which going ductless will benefit you. First and foremost, there is the matter of efficiency to consider. A ductless mini split obviously does not use ductwork in its operation. This eliminates the risk of air loss via leaks in that ductwork, which is an unfortunately common problem in many homes using ducted systems.

Additionally, you don’t have to worry about dust and dirt entering the system through breaches in the ductwork. This helps to protect your indoor air quality. You don’t want to be spreading pollutants throughout the entire house, after all.

Finally, there is the convenience factor to consider. If you can use one system to cool your home during the majority of the year, while also using the system to heat your home — as infrequently as we may have to around here — why not choose that option? There is really nothing to lose, and so much to gain. Let us know if you think that going ductless is right for you.
