Don’t you love the sound of a porch swing?

I do.

My porch swing is my own personal sanctuary. I know that may sound strange, but my porch swing is where I feel closest to God. I spend a lot of time out there talkin’ to him.

Sitting there all by my lonesome, I have a spectacular view of the Lord’s blessings. Little things that we so often take for granted. Like birds. Deer. Flowers. God’s magnificent creation. It’s all on display… and I have a front row seat.

Time slows down while I’m sitting on my porch swing. And that’s just fine. I’ve decided to slow down a bit. Well, technically, my recent heart attack helped to make that decision for me.

It’s what I need to do. It’s the right thing to do. But that doesn’t mean it will be easy. My gearshift doesn’t have a first gear. I’ve always been a stuck-in-fifth kinda guy.

But not anymore.

Now, hold on, partner. No, I’m not retiring, Heaven knows I’m way too antsy to do that. But I am gonna shift gears and carve out a lot more time for what’s most important.

God…

My wife…

My family…

And my porch swing.

I hope you will, too.

Life is precious. Family is priceless. God is forever.

Be well. Stay well. Thanks for readin’…

P.S. – That porch swing isn’t quite as noisy since I decided to lose some weight. Of course, the heart attack kinda made that decision for me, too.
