Patricia and I have always dreamed of being “leafers.”

What’s a leafer? I’m so glad you asked.

Leafers are wanderers traveling far and wide seeking the ultimate view of nature’s awesome autumn display.

In other words... people who love to watch the leaves change color.

Yes, Patricia and I aspire to join the growing leafer community. Our hearts yearn to escape to the enchanting corners of the Northeast, a magical world nestled between the Finger Lakes and the majestic White Mountains where lavish landscapes are cloaked in breathtaking hues.

Or so I’m told.

Time has never been on our side. Alas, this dream has always been just out of reach, oftentimes thwarted by life’s hustle and bustle or circumstances beyond our control... including work emergencies and an unexpected flood.

This year, we hope that our hectic schedule will finally grant us a reprieve.

But we often forget that beauty is all around us.

In fact, my favorite canvas for nature's transformation is just down the road at Ferne Clyffe State Park.

Heck, you don’t even have to get out of your vehicle to enjoy all that Ferne Clyffe has to offer. One look at the lake that mirrors a multitude of trees adorning its banks will take your breath away.

Here, serenity reigns supreme. Why search the world for captivating wonders when you can see it all in your own backyard?

As you embark on your journey through the seasons, may you find beauty and wonder in the simplest moments and places. Cherish each falling leaf, for it carries the promise of renewal.

That’s a little bit of friendly advice from one leafer to another.

Be well... stay well. Thanks for reading.

P.S. – And don’t get me started about Garden of The Gods. It gives the ol’ Finger Lakes a run for their money any day.
