I love when people ask me how I’m doing. Most folks give the same ol’ answers, like “Fine” or “Not too bad.” But I throw ‘em a curveball.

When someone asks, “How are you today?” I light up and say, “Phenomenal! It doesn’t pay to be any other way.”

You wouldn’t believe the number of people who stop in their tracks, break into a grin, and say, “I like that!” It’s almost like you can see their mood shifting gears.

Here’s another one. When someone says, “It’s good to see you,” I like to answer, “It’s good to be seen!” It’s simple, but it always gets a chuckle. Now, some folks like to add on, “It’s better to be seen than viewed,” but that’s a little too morbid for my taste.

Of course, people who know me best are familiar with my signature send-off: “Be well, stay well.” And if someone’s feeling under the weather, I revise it to say, “Get well, stay well, be well.”

Y’know, I’ve always thought of myself as a cheerleader. Not the pom-pom and megaphone kind, but rather the type of cheerleader that lifts spirits and encourages others. I truly believe my God-given purpose is to bring a smile to people’s faces.

Jesus Christ had a God-given purpose, too. He came into the world to bring joy, healing, and hope to hearts everywhere. And since His birthday is coming up, a good way to celebrate is to do and say things that bring happiness and peace to those around us.

So here’s what I hope for you this Christmas:

That your home is filled with joy,

That your face is more smiley than frowny.

And that you be well, and stay well.

Thanks for readin’.

P.S. – I hope your Christmas is... phenomenal.
