More Supercharged than a Cheap AC Tune-Up

Your air conditioner needs regular maintenance to help it run smoothly and last as long as possible. Otherwise, dust and debris choke the life out of it. We give so much time and attention to the cleaning and fine-tuning of your air conditioner, that we had to give our service a better name than a simple tune-up. So we called it the AC Optimizer.

Deep cleaning and 37 steps of tune-up love

We scrub the baked-on plaque off your outdoor coils and make sure it’s sparkly clean. Then we conduct a thorough inspection of your safety and performance components to find anything that’s broken or even close to breaking. If we find anything that can improve your system or save you from a costly breakdown, we’ll show you your options and let you decide what’s best for you. If you want us to repair or improve it, we’ll apply the cost of our AC Optimizer to our work and cover you with our Whole House Promise. Finally, we’ll calibrate it back to or as close as possible to factory fresh efficiency. That’s 37 steps of real work and love spent on your comfort by the Green Horizon One Hour team.

Lower utility bills, and longer life

Studies have shown that 1/8” of dust on your coils increases your energy usage by 25%. The deep cleaning of an AC Optimizer gets rid of that dust, helping your air conditioner run smooth as silk. The ease of operation and optimum calibration can double the life of your air conditioner when you get one each year (which is exactly what our Top Gun Club receives on their air conditioners and heaters + a ton of other money-saving, comfort-enhancing benefits…).

Breakdown-Free, guaranteed

Did you realize that 95% of all breakdowns are caused by dust, dirt and debris buildup? We see it every day. It’s why we can guarantee your AC Optimizer: your system will be free of breakdowns for the season in which we perform it, or we’ll refund your money. The only exception would be if you have a dangerous or broken component that you refuse to repair. We think that’s pretty reasonable.

All that for $128

We won’t send our techs to do cheap work. We employ the best and pay the best, and this is our actual price to give you the most money-saving, comfort delivering, air conditioner service you can get.

What Homeowners Can Do Between Service Calls

Homeowners can extend the lifespan of their air conditioners and increase efficiency throughout the year by performing a few maintenance tasks between yearly service calls. Remember to shut off your air conditioner or HVAC unit before performing maintenance. You don’t want it kicking on in the middle of a task!

The easiest task to perform is switching out the air filters every three months, or four times per year. Air filters quickly fill up with dust, pet hair, and other air particles floating around your home. Replacing the air filter regularly becomes critical for those with dust allergies, mold allergies, and/or pets living in the home. Some air filters are reusable. In this case, simply clean the filter and put it back into your HVAC.

Replacing the air filter is as simple as recording the size, looking for the right MERV rating, and placing it your HVAC unit. Not all HVAC units support all types of air filters. Some filter such tiny particles, such as viruses, that it restricts air flow too much in a typical residential HVAC unit. Before purchasing a new filter, ensure its compatibility with your unit and your filtering needs. The higher the MERV rating, the more it filters from the air.

Another task that homeowners can perform between service calls is clearing the space around the unit to ensure maximum air flow. Any bushes near the unit should always be trimmed at least a few feet away from the unit. Twigs, leaves, and debris should also be cleared from around the unit so nothing can damage the unit or prevent maximum air flow from entering the air conditioner.

Homeowners can also open up their air conditioning unit and dust off the blades and coils. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you can wait to have this performed by us at the next tune up!

Signs Your AC Unit May Need a Tune-Up

Air conditioners should have a yearly tune-up scheduled to maximize the efficiency and lifespan of the unit. While your unit could be running just fine, dust on the coils can cause a significant decrease in efficiency, costing you more on your energy bills. Also, you may not know that some worn out parts need replacing until they bust in the middle of summer. Performing a tune-up takes care of these potential problems before they arise. Here are some other signs it’s time to call us for an air conditioning tune-up:

  • You hear strange noises coming from the unit
  • Your house is not getting cooler when the unit is on
  • Your energy bills are abnormally high

Before summer is in full-swing, it’s smart to do a test run of your air conditioning to make sure it’s properly working before setting a tune-up appointment. If something is wrong, you can let them know before they show up to service your unit.

If you hear loud or strange noises coming from the unit when you turn it on, this can mean that a part has broken inside and needs replacing. Turn off the unit and wait for the professionals to come look it over. If your home is not cooling down when the unit is on, there could be an issue with the condenser or it could be caused by a leak in the ductwork. A professional can help diagnose the problem and offer solutions.

If you notice a huge spike in your energy bill, compared to similar conditions last month or even last year, it may mean your unit is not running as efficiently as it once was. This could be due to dirty coils, clogged vents, or dirty air filters. If you have inspected your vents and changed the air filters and notice no change on energy costs, it may be time for an air conditioning tune-up.
