Insulation Services
When your home is uncomfortable no matter how often the heater or AC runs, your insulation is usually to blame. At One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning®, our insulation services are designed to help keep conditioned air where it belongs, reduce strain on your HVAC system, and give your family steady, reliable comfort. Expert insulation technicians can make sure your home is well insulated so it stays more comfortable for less energy cost.
Common Problems Poor Insulation Causes
Insulation is easy to overlook because it is hidden in walls, ceilings, and floors. You feel the problems long before you ever see them. Below are some of the most common issues homeowners notice:
- Hot and cold spots from room to room, especially on upper floors or over garages
- Drafts near windows, doors, or outlets
- High energy bills because conditioned air escapes through gaps and thin insulation
- Rooms that never feel “just right” no matter how you set the thermostat
- Uncomfortable bonus rooms, basements, or rooms over the garage
- HVAC systems that seem to run nonstop, which can lead to more frequent breakdowns
Insulation Replacement and Upgrades
Over time, insulation can settle, become damaged by moisture or pests, or simply fall short of modern comfort expectations. If your home is older or you have noticed persistent comfort issues, it may be time to replace or upgrade sections of your insulation.
Here's what your One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® technician can do to help:
- Assess the condition of existing insulation
- Recommend where removal is necessary and where additional insulation can be added on top
- Coordinate insulation services with other HVAC upgrades so your whole system works together
By improving insulation while addressing air leaks, you help your heating and cooling system work more efficiently, which supports long-term comfort and reliability. Call today to see what One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning can do for your home.
Types of Insulation
There are many different insulation types to choose from, each with unique advantages and applications. Below are some of the most popular options:
- Spray foam insulation: This insulation type is sprayed or foamed in place. Closed-cell types may offer an R (insulation) value of R-6 or R-7, while open-cell products generally offer values between R-3.5 and R-4. It's suitable for walls and roofs, or hard-to-reach areas.
- Cellulose insulation: Used as a blow-in option, cellulose insulation is fantastic for hard-to-reach locations like wall cavities and attic floors. Densely packed applications offer an R-value of up to 4. Blown-in installation is preferred over poured-in for cellulose insulation.
- Fiberglass insulation: Fiberglass insulation generally comes in blankets or batts, and is reasonably easy to install. At R-2.9 to R-4.3, it has a similar R-rating to cellulose or open-cell spray foam options. It's preferable for hollow walls, floors, and ceilings, rather than complex applications.
- Rockwool insulation: This option is similar to fiberglass insulation in almost every way, except that it consists of spun mineral, rather than glass.
- Foam sheet insulation: Foam sheet or foam board insulation is an excellent alternative to insulation batting and works well for unfinished walls, ceilings, and floors. Depending on the type of foam used, this type of insulation may have an R-value ranging from R-3.6 to R-7 or even higher.
