Do you really come out to Alexandria?

Yes. We serve the village and all of ZIP 43001, including St. Albans Township homes on country roads.

My Alexandria home is over 100 years old and has no central air. What are my options?

If you have ductwork for a furnace, we can often add central air to it. If not, or if the upstairs never cools down, ductless mini-splits can heat and cool individual rooms without major construction.

My house heats with fuel oil. Can I switch?

Often, yes. We'll walk you through heat pump and propane furnace options for your house and show you the price of each before you decide.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house and call 911 or your gas company from outside. Don't go back in until they say it's safe. Then call us to find and fix the cause.

Heating & Air Conditioning in Alexandria, OH

Your Alexandria Heating and Cooling Team

Alexandria is small, and proud of it. Alexander Devilbiss founded the village in 1830, and a marker in his honor stands at Main Street and Maple Drive. State Route 37 runs right through town as Main Street, and the village sits in the middle of St. Albans Township in western Licking County. When dissolving the village came to a vote in 2018, about 92% of voters chose to keep Alexandria a village. Today it's home to about 480 people, the Alexandria Public Library, a stretch of the T.J. Evans Trail and families who send their kids to Northridge Local Schools.

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® of Delaware heats and cools homes in Alexandria and across the 43001 countryside, from older village houses to newer homes on country roads.

Our promise: Always On Time…Or You Don't Pay A Dime!® If we're not there in the window you pick, the service call is free.

Heating and Cooling Homes in Alexandria

Alexandria's village homes have some age on them. Census estimates (ACS 2020-2024) put the median year built for homes in the village at 1938, and about two in three date to 1939 or earlier. The wider 43001 ZIP is newer, with a median year built of 1983. Much of the countryside filled in during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, though about 1 in 5 homes there still date to before 1940.

Fuel depends on where you live. In the village, almost every home heats with natural gas from Columbia Gas of Ohio, and AEP Ohio supplies electricity. Across the 43001 ZIP it's a real mix: about 56% utility gas, 21% electricity, 10% propane and 7% fuel oil, with a little wood heat too.

What that means for your system:

Many older homes were built before central air. Ductwork was often added or changed later, so upstairs rooms can run hot in summer and some rooms stay cool in winter.
Country homes from the 1970s to 1990s are often on their second or third furnace. At replacement time, look at fuel and efficiency, not just a matching model.
Some homes still heat with fuel oil or wood. If you're ready for a change, a heat pump or propane furnace may be worth comparing.

Alexandria Local Insight

In a village where so many homes date to before 1940, comfort problems often come from the house, not just the furnace. A new furnace pushing air through old, leaky ductwork won't feel much different from the old one. Before we recommend a replacement in an older Alexandria home, we look at the ducts, the returns and how air reaches the second floor. Sometimes the best fix is sealing and adjusting what you have. Sometimes it's a ductless mini-split for the bedrooms upstairs.

Seasonal HVAC Tips for Alexandria

Get your furnace tuned up in early fall, before the first frost. Check the filter monthly and change it when it's dirty. In older homes, keep furniture and rugs off vents and returns. If you heat with propane, watch your tank level once the cold sets in. After a snowfall, clear the heat pump's outdoor unit and any furnace vent pipes on the outside wall. In spring, book an AC check before the first hot week.

Very pleased with this company and our technician, Joshua. Scheduling was efficient and fast, they came out the same afternoon that I called. After I had another company come out that morning and tell us they could not fix my furnace dehumidifier, Joshua had it fixed in a short time after his arrival. Pricing was very fair. This is my new HVAC provider!

Andrew was excellent in his detailed review in quoting out a new heating/AC system for our home. He asked what I was looking for and we went room by room reviewing what was in each room. He confirmed that the current layout was very good and the system we had was the correct in its ratings. He prepared our quote as I had asked, no pressure with any additional ons or upsells as I was clear in what we were looking to do. He went over the quote with me line by line asking if I had any questions. Andrew was very polite and professional throughout the whole process. Can’t say enough good things about the dealings I have had with these two gentlemen along with the young lady I talked to on the phone. If you’re on the fence- call these guys.

"Great experience with One Hour Air! They showed up right on time, replaced my thermostat, and did a thorough AC maintenance check. Their pricing was very affordable and honest and their technician James was extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything he was doing and made me feel completely comfortable. He broke everything down clearly and never talked down to me or made me feel stupid. Highly recommend!!!
