Do you come out to Kilbourne and Brown Township?

Yes. We serve Kilbourne and all of Brown Township from our office in Delaware, including homes with Delaware or Sunbury mailing addresses.

What's the best heating system for a Kilbourne home without natural gas?

Most homes here use a propane furnace, a heat pump or both. A dual-fuel system lets the heat pump do most of the work and saves the propane furnace for the coldest days.

I still have an oil furnace. Can you replace it?

Yes. We can replace it with a high-efficiency propane furnace or a heat pump, and we'll explain what each needs, such as a propane tank or an electrical upgrade.

My propane furnace quit. What should I check first?

Look at the tank gauge. If the tank is low or empty, call your propane supplier first, because the system may need a check before it's refilled and relit. If there's plenty, check the furnace switch and filter, then call us.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the house and call 911 or your gas company from outside. For propane, that's your propane supplier. Once they say it's safe, call us to find and fix the cause.

Heating & Air Conditioning in Kilbourne, OH

Your Kilbourne Heating and Cooling Team

Kilbourne is a small crossroads in eastern Brown Township, where State Route 521 meets the Old State Road. Its first name was Eden. The current name honors surveyor James Kilbourne. The Old State Road dates to about 1820 and is known as Ohio's first federally funded highway, and Kilbourne kept its own post office from 1837 until 2017. About 130 people live in Kilbourne itself, with farms and country homes across the rest of the township.

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® of Delaware services furnaces, heat pumps and air conditioners in Kilbourne and all of Brown Township. Our office on Pittsburgh Drive in Delaware is about nine miles away in a straight line, and State Route 521 connects the two.

Our promise: Always On Time…Or You Don't Pay A Dime!® If we don't arrive in the window you pick, the service call is free.

Heating and Cooling Homes in Kilbourne

Kilbourne is too small for reliable Census housing numbers, so we look at Brown Township as a whole. About one home in five there was built before 1940, about one in four in the 1970s and more than one in four in the 2000s. The median home dates to 1979. So one country road can hold a century-old house, a 1970s home on its second or third furnace and a 2000s build with its original heat pump.

Fuel is the bigger difference. Census estimates show propane is by far the most common heating fuel in Brown Township, used by close to two in three homes. Natural gas reaches some homes, but far fewer. About one in twelve still heats with fuel oil, and some burn wood.

When you buy fuel by the gallon, an efficient furnace and sealed ductwork pay off every winter. Still on fuel oil? Compare a propane furnace and a heat pump before an old system forces the decision.

Kilbourne Local Insight

Out here, the heating system is often more than one piece. A Brown Township home might have a propane tank and furnace, a wood stove and no central air at all. A heat pump can add central cooling and take over much of the heating, with the propane furnace kicking in only on the coldest nights. We look at the whole setup, from the tank to the electric panel, and give you options with StraightForward Pricing® before any work begins.

Seasonal HVAC Tips for Kilbourne

Before heating season, book a tune-up and fill your propane tank so you aren't waiting on a delivery in the first cold snap. After a snowstorm, keep a clear path to the tank for the delivery truck, and clear drifts off the heat pump and furnace vent pipes. Near working fields, check the furnace filter more often at planting and harvest. In spring, schedule an AC check and cut brush back from the outdoor unit.

Very pleased with this company and our technician, Joshua. Scheduling was efficient and fast, they came out the same afternoon that I called. After I had another company come out that morning and tell us they could not fix my furnace dehumidifier, Joshua had it fixed in a short time after his arrival. Pricing was very fair. This is my new HVAC provider!

Andrew was excellent in his detailed review in quoting out a new heating/AC system for our home. He asked what I was looking for and we went room by room reviewing what was in each room. He confirmed that the current layout was very good and the system we had was the correct in its ratings. He prepared our quote as I had asked, no pressure with any additional ons or upsells as I was clear in what we were looking to do. He went over the quote with me line by line asking if I had any questions. Andrew was very polite and professional throughout the whole process. Can’t say enough good things about the dealings I have had with these two gentlemen along with the young lady I talked to on the phone. If you’re on the fence- call these guys.

"Great experience with One Hour Air! They showed up right on time, replaced my thermostat, and did a thorough AC maintenance check. Their pricing was very affordable and honest and their technician James was extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything he was doing and made me feel completely comfortable. He broke everything down clearly and never talked down to me or made me feel stupid. Highly recommend!!!
